Even smaller items like books, DVDs, and clothes can mean an extra ten bucks for treats.

“Keywords are key – Take the time to get your keywords right and bidders will come. When buyers search, eBay.co.uk automatically filters listing titles, so writing your listing is crucial in the language of your fellow users and use the terminology they are looking for, especially brand and product names.

“Choose the right category for your product – It may seem obvious, but it is very important to always choose the most specific category to sell in. Make sure that if you are selling old children’s clothing, sell in the fashion category for kids, rather than just fashion in general.

“Pictures are important – Most users won’t bid on items they can’t see. For best results, shoot in natural light against a neutral background and be honest about any scratches or cosmetic damage to the item.

“Be as detailed as possible – Be honest about the condition of the product and be sure to note any wear and tear. Including details that cannot be seen in the image, for example if you are selling clothing noting the feel or fit of the product, you’ll help shoppers decide if this is the item for them.

“Be realistic with pricing – think carefully about your pricing strategy following eBay’s price recommendations. Try to research similar items on eBay, to make sure you are getting the right price and always ask yourself “is I would pay this price for this object?”
